Although, what is important to note, is that these findings have been researched by a serving member of HM Royal Navy, as opposed to an out side agency or individual. This alone sets the relevance, timing and accuracy of established findings.During the research, it very quickly became clear how the technical aspects to the National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and Security Review clearly troubled senior officers, highlighting potential morale issues early on in the research- morale issues appearing to have been created and ‘reverberated’ down from the highest level of government. Therefore, this has enabled the author to begin a trawl for further current and potential morale issues, utilising quantitative and qualitative methods of research analysis, such as face to face and telephone interviewing with senior military officers and Members of Parliament- the study of Semiotics and contracted and already available statistical analysis findings. As such, this has enabled the production of a valuable insight from a service persons perspective, assessing current morale issues, facing the British armed forces, and their possible consequences in a new period of defence modernism.
