It is this awareness of the process, and the exploration of design that makes a forest bonsai such an interesting project. The enjoyment derived from creating a forest bonsai comes from the structural alignment of the main trunks and the interplay of branches between neighboring trees. Using perspective art techniques to determine the positioning of trees, the final combined effect gives rise to angled lighting and shadows as sun filters through the foliage onto the the soil and moss beneath.

The effect can be hypnotizing and at times it is difficult to walk away without glancing back for a final look. My central concept is with four year old mature saplings to create the initial bonsai forests. The examples range from the use of non-complex succulents, to fast growing (invasive) species with excellent trunking and foliage characteristics, to forests of flowering azaleas that mimic the rhododendron forest of the Himalayas. This e-book contains a large amount of relevant and important material that will insure your bonsai trees live beyond your lifetime for future generations of family and friends to nurture.

And finally, as a bonus I have added “12 signs you’re obsessed with bonsai” - this is based on my observations of other people devotees and scarily enough my own behavior. Enjoy the read. Viva.
